Lunar Eclipse Part II

My last post was a picture from the lunar eclipse a few nights ago. I took multiple shots, spaced about every 2 minutes apart. I have this idea in my head for a collage picture where I take all the shots and show the progression of the eclipse shadow across the moon. This isn't near complete yet, but I thought I'd show my work so far...

Lunar Eclipse

Image from the Feb 20th, 2008 lunar eclipse. There's a bright spot at the 12 o'clock position above the moon, and another at the 8 o'clock position. I believe these are Saturn and Uranus but I'm not sure which is which, or if it's even them.

But you know what, let's go with that for now.

Vroom vroom...

The Dodge Viper from this year's Chicago Auto Show. I shot this with a fairly large lens opening (f8) because I wanted the blur to help convey a sense of motion. This is one of those cars that looks fast even when it's just sitting there...

Travelling at the speed of life

This is the moving walkway that connects Concourses B and C in the United Air Lines terminal at Chicago's O'Hare airport. I'm going through this phase of being fascinated with slow-shutter speed, motion capturing pictures. O'Hare is a great place to do this, because I see it as a metaphor for the hustle and bustle of business travel.

Over the Rockies

Flying over the Rocky Mountains, just west of Denver, Colorado. The clouds toward the top of the image started obscuring the mountains, and they gradually faded into nothingness. The picture really doesn't do justice to the view...

Takeoff...

JAL (Japan Air Lines) 747-400 taking off at San Francisco Airport, bound for parts unknown--presumably somewhere in Japan. It was a slightly cool and foggy day--notice the moisture coming off the leading edge of the wing.

The Sentinel Building

This is a night shot of the Sentinel Building located in the North Beach neighborhood in San Francisco. I took a time exposure on this which, to me, helps symbolize the non-stop activity that occurs in San Francsico, particularly in this neighborhood.

The ground floor of this building contains a wonderful European-style cafe called Zoetrope Cafe, which is owned by Francis Ford Coppola and named after his production company. It's a great place to have a glass of wine, eat some great Italian food, and watch the world go by one stop light at a time.

Coit Tower

Coit Tower, San Francisco, California. Shot on a warm, sunny Saturday in May. It was a great day to be a tourist in one of the most tourist-friendly cities in the world.
